Mortgage Interest Rates Today
For today, December 27, 2023, the average interest rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage is 7.00%. That's a bit lower than last week, when it was 7.08%. If you're thinking about refinancing your mortgage, the average rate for that is now 7.16%, which is slightly down from 7.17% last week.
Buyer’s Vs. Seller’s Market Index Score
As we say goodbye to Christmas and get ready for the New Year, our real estate market score is still at 60 out of 100. What this means for homeowners is that it's still a pretty good time to sell your house. House prices are still going up because there aren't enough homes for everyone who wants to buy. But there's some good news for people looking to buy a home too. Mortgage rates have gone down a bit, and there are a few more houses to choose from than before. This score is a general idea of what's happening across the country, but things might be different where you live. We'll keep an eye on how interest rates and the number of houses for sale change, which will help us understand what might happen in the real estate market as we move into the new year.
Daily Homeowner Tip
As we get closer to the new year, take a moment to update your emergency preparedness kit. Ensure it includes essentials like a three-day supply of water and non-perishable food, flashlights with extra batteries, and a basic first-aid kit. Don't forget to add a battery-powered or hand-crank radio, a multi-tool, and emergency blankets. Tailor your kit to your family's needs by including necessary medications, baby supplies, or pet food. Regularly check and replace expired items, and keep your kit in an easily accessible place. Being prepared with a well-stocked kit is your first step to safety in emergencies.
That’s all we have for you Today!
