Mortgage Interest Rates Today
Today, Tuesday, January 9, 2024, the average interest rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage is 7.04%, showing a small rise from last week. If you're considering refinancing your mortgage, the average rate for a 30-year fixed refinance is now 7.23%, which has also increased slightly from the previous week.
Buyer’s Vs. Seller’s Market Index Score
In today's update, we're nudging up our Real Estate Market Score to 59, a slight increase from yesterday's 58. This change is mainly because the interest rates have dipped a bit. Even though the drop isn't big, it's enough to get people thinking about buying or selling houses.
January is a time when many folks start planning their moves for the year. If we start seeing a bigger dip in interest rates, we might see more people deciding to buy or sell. This means in the next few months, especially as we approach spring, there'll be more activity in the market.
For those of you looking to buy or sell, this 59 score suggests a slightly stronger seller's market. But remember, this doesn't mean buyers are out of luck. There are still opportunities, especially if you keep an eye on how things change day by day.
As always, this score is a general view of the national market. Your local area might be different, so it's a good idea to check local real estate trends too. We'll continue to monitor the market, especially how interest rates and housing availability change, to bring you the latest and most relevant information. Stay tuned for daily insights to guide your real estate decisions!
Daily Homeowner Tip
A quick and easy way to save energy in your home is by switching to LED light bulbs. These bulbs are way more energy-efficient than the old ones. They don't just use less electricity; they also last a lot longer. This means you won't have to replace them as often. By changing your light bulbs to LEDs, you can see a real difference in your electricity bills over time. Plus, they are good for the environment since they use less energy. It's a simple change, but it can make a big impact on both your wallet and the planet!
That’s all we have for Today!
